Aldi Specially Selected Colombian Coffee

Aldi Specially Selected Colombian CoffeeAnother cheap but good-un from Aldi. Its coarsely ground so you can’t really balls it up in your caffetiere – though of course this does mean that we couldn’t spoon it up too high – this one hasd a ceiling that we couldn't really get over. Not that it needs it – it's strong enough more or less however you make it. And it looks really inviting – a lovely pale brown crema on the surface that holds down the side of the cup to the bottom. Another perfectly respectable all day drinker from Aldi that you could serve at your dinbner party without being found out. We're only taking a point off for it not having any quirky flavours. 7/10

What the Manufacturer's say:

"This Specially Selected Colombian coffee is picked from the Catura Arabica tree 1850 metres above sea level in the Cauca region. There, the unique climate creates the perfect conditions for growing fine full-bodied coffee with a silky smooth aroma"

Deep, rich flavour with a smooth texture and a real kick at the end. Even with milk the coffee has all the class of a black brew without any hint of an unpleasant aftertaste or increased risk to your shinny white teeth. Good clean taste, nothing fancy, just proper coffee – a great example of a South American brew considering the cost. An easy 7, but I’m adding an extra point as it doesn't have any ‘quirky flavours’ added in. You've changed Judge Nooge, you've changed.

I quite like this coffee, even if in winter (which is generally when I drink the most coffee) it doesn't pack the kick I'd be after to keep me going. It does have a rather nice flavour IMO, and that's why I still get it. 8/10 for me.
